RED BULLS 0, FC DALLAS 2 POST-GAME

A tough game to judge considering the fact that the Red Bulls had their chances but an FC Dallas early goal put them behind the 8-ball early. The general consensus among the coaches and players post-game was that they carried the run of play at times and could of gone home with a point, but lack of sharpness in front of the net was the downfall.

Below are some audio clips from the players and Osorio. Also, make sure to check out the post-game thoughts from coach Osorio on MLSNet.com (thanks to FC Dallas Communications for helping out with this).

The Red Bulls (1-1-0) next take on the New England Revolution, who lost 1-0 tonight at home to the Colorado Rapids. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM on Saturday at Giants Stadium. For tickets, please call 1.877.RBSOCCER or log onto www.newyorkredbulls.com.

Not all that tough to judge, they looked awful, period. How is it that they'd rather play players out of position than give Carlos Mendes a look?

kpugs (and to everyone who have provided comments), first of all, we appreciate the feedback here. For this blog (or any blog or site) to be successful, there definitely has to be constant interaction and debate.

I think to be fair, the game changes completely when you let in a goal just a minute into the game. Not to defend the fact that the team conceded a goal that early, but you're always chasing the game from that point - especially on the road.

Our positive I wanted to point out was that there were spans in which the team controlled possession and play against FC Dallas and the coaches/players tended to agree. An example of this was Danleigh Borman in the first half, who outran and out-maneuvered Dax McCarty whenever he got the ball. And John Wolyniec and Mike Magee both had great chances in the second half but could not convert. Jozy Altidore also was taken down in the box in the first half in a play which many thought was a penalty kick.

The main concern post-game from the players/coaches was the inability to complete that final pass/move/shot in and around the penalty box. There were a number of chances that the Red Bulls had both in the first and the second half in which they could have tested goalkeeper Dario Sala, but did not. This is reflected in the team's shots (14) to shots on goal (2) ratio. New York outshot Dallas 14-7.

I'm sure as Coach Osorio speaks publicly this week, some of your questions may be answered. And soon, we're planning to have Q&As with players and coaches so you can ask them your own questions!

The Red Bulls need a center attacking midfielder. I don't see how that got dropped from the list of signing priorities.

Reader, I love this team (and this blog, while I'm at it--good job). It's in my blood. I've been to almost every home game, ever. I am glad you guys allow negative comments on the site. But in the same way I am not going to hold back my joy, I'm not going to hold back my negative thoughts (although I agree with you, it wasn't all negative).

I agree the game changes when you let in an early goal, no question about it. But the game also changes when you are playing ping pong soccer in the opposing team's penalty area for the final 15 minutes and can't so much as get a shot on goal. As much as it hurts me to say it, and I guess it hurts to have it on the official blog site, it was just a terribly played game by RBNY.

There were definitely positives in the game...but I'm a measley commenter on the blog, not a journalist, so I don't feel like I should have to cover every aspect of the game to get my point across.

I can't wait for Saturday, as usual we'll be there around noon at the back fence by gate D gearing it up. Come one, come all!

One great thing about me is even if I'm negative one day, the next day I am already looking forward to the next game.
