We’re a few hours away from kickoff in Charleston and this morning, the team went on a 20-minute walk around town to get the blood flowing in the legs. Just a few notes from the route (the walk was led by goalkeeper Jon Conway):
- Took a left on Market Street which is full of open-air boutique shops and small stores. One of the many nice things about Charleston as opposed to other cities is that most of the buildings are well kept to maintain their historical architecture. Many of the buildings along Market Street were built in the mid 1840s.
- RBR has a weakness for chicken wings and the team past by the Wild Wing Café as well as the Charleston Crab House. We’ve also eaten at the Southend Brewery & Smokehouse, Sticky Fingers and T-Bonz and we can guarantee that we’ve been full every single night. Suggestions are always welcome!
- Took a right on East Bay Street and past by the U.S. Customs House. You can read about the history of this magnificent building here.
- There are some very scenic spots in Charleston as the team walked along the coast. It’s a pretty windy day today and there are reports of thunderstorms tonight. “Storm”, also known as team weatherman Jeff Parke, predicts “Rain for our game, storms for the second game.” We’ll keep you posted on the conditions.
That’s it for now. We’ll have more from Charleston/Blackbaud Stadium later today.
