BACK TO SCHOOL

The full team returned to the Giants Stadium Bubble on Wednesday after a few days of much needed rest from back-to-back two-a-days and the constant regiment of training. As is the case with most of his training sessions, Coach Osorio likes to have his players in competitive situations, shooting towards goal, and today was no different.

During the weekend off, while some of the guys stayed around the NY/NJ area, others took quick trips home. Or at least they thought they would be quick.

The inclement weather over the weekend affected Eric Brunner’s travel plans back to Columbus. Eric left for Newark Airport at 3:30 AM Saturday morning to make a 6:15 flight to Charlotte. Once he reached Charlotte however, his connecting flight to Columbus was canceled.

Eric then went standby on a trip to Dayton, OH, but that flight did not leave until the afternoon. When he arrived, he then made a three-hour drive to Columbus, eventually getting home at 10:30 PM.

Brunner was relatively fortunate compared to John Gilkerson, who spent 28 hours on Saturday at the airport before getting to his final destination of Charlotte!

For Luke Sassano, he almost stayed a night in “Sin City.” Taking a flight on Friday night after the team arrived in JFK, Luke arrived in Las Vegas at 11:50 PM. But, his flight home to San Francisco was due to take off at 12 AM. Plus, he had to go to a different part of the terminal to catch his flight.

Fortunately for him, he reached the gate at 12:10 AM and eventually made it home, where he celebrated alumni weekend at UC-Berkeley.

“Luckily, I made it and didn’t get into any trouble in Vegas!” Luke said.

One impressive sight on Wednesday was Juan Pablo Angel juggling one of these medicine balls on both legs in the air. The balls individually were not exactly light but to the awe of some onlookers, JPA made it look like he was bouncing around a tennis ball.

The Red Bulls will train Thursday in East Rutherford before leaving for Charleston on Friday.

Just another note: all of the Red Bulls’ matches in Charleston will be video streamed live for free on www.usllive.com. Red Bulls Reader will also be there provide up-to-minute updates on the games.
