Red Bulls Reader comes to you from Glendale, AZ, as we're watching our team train at the beautiful University of Phoenix Stadium. We recommend that you are ever in this area, you have to make a visit here (though, for whoever told RBR that 115 degrees in Arizona is just "dry heat", he thinks you're all full of you know what).
Arizona Cardinals placekicker Neil Rackers is doing warm-ups with the team (more on him later) but the practice's intensity is still the same as we prepare to play Chivas de Guadalajara tomorrow night at 11 PM ET (8 PM here). Watch it on TeleFutura.
The team was delayed for three-plus hours due to thunderstorms in the NY-NJ area before finally getting to the Phoenix area late last night. However, everyone is in good spirits. Here are a couple of excerpts from today's Red Bulls-Chivas press conference today:
Seth Stammler
On the game:
It’s great to be in Phoenix. The team is really excited to come down here for the game, especially to play a team like Chivas which has such a storied history. I think it’s an honor just to test ourselves to see where we stand against some of the top players internationally.
Dave van den Bergh
On playing Chivas de Guadalajara:
It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be a friendly and we have to treat it as such. It’s a great team, great honor to play against them. It’s a good opportunity to measure ourselves. For them, it’s preseason so they’re going to be trying some things out and getting their fitness in.
On the University of Phoenix Stadium:
It can’t get much better than this. It’s a beautiful stadium, the stadium looks beautiful and I’m just hoping we could get a good crowd out for tomorrow.
More on this trip, with photos, later....
