TWO DOWN; TWO TO GO

Red Bull New York announced today that it has signed midfielders Jorge Rojas and Juan Pietravallo after they received their P-1 visas. Rojas and Pietravallo will be available for selection for the Red Bulls’ match against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday at 6:30 PM ET at Giants Stadium (TV: Fox Soccer Channel, Radio: WADO 1280).

Rojas should step right into the Starting XI and fill the CAM role that has been an issue for the Red Bulls for most of the season. No word on if Pietravallo will also step into a starting role.

Diego Jimenez and Gabriel Cichero have not been officially signed by the club at this point, in regards to MLS approval, etc.

Are you excited about these two players donning the kit for the first time? Do you think their presence will change the dynamic on the field? Will it produce more wins for the club? Will Rojas be the difference maker we all hope he can be? Will you be there on Saturday for their debut? TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

In the absense of the open DP spot why don't we try to and go after Brian McBride. All I keep hearing is how we're looking at a striker to aid Juan Pablo Angel and this would be the perfect fit as a veteran presence on an otherwise very young team. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure it would be up to if we have the salary room to do it...

Well first off anonymous McBride wants to play for Chicago, that's his home and he would like to retire there.

Second, Toronto own his rights and they are looking for the right deal, whether it's money or players, to convince them to trade McBride and who in there right mind would go to RBNY to look for players?

Third, he's going to be playing in the Olympics so he would be gone for some time from the team so it would be a waste right off the bat and if we were to get him we need him right away or we won't make it to the playoffs.

Fourth, I'm convinced already that we are going to wait for Thierry Henry as our big name DP player. He loves New York, he says it's his favorite city, he is friends with American pro athletes, and he said he would like to play in the MLS at some point and live here in the US after he retires, and in reality we may actually get him after this season with Barca, especially if they win the league and champions league. He would have won everything there is to win and he's made all the money he can so he would most likely feel no need to play in Europe any longer, he's that type of player and that type of guy.

Well said karbaz. I can't really argue with that because all of that is true. I guess I just didn't expect a player of Henry's character to leave as early as next season even with his desire to play here in the states (specifically NY).

I agree in that we need help right now if we even have a chance at making the playoffs (which I believe we still do but not soon if things don't change now). I just thought of McBride because he would be an ideal fit for a bunch of MLS teams.

I would love to have McBride, he would take a lot of pressure off Angel as our only goal scorer. He's the type of forward we need, very pitbull like and fights for every ball and he's big and strong. If it at all happens I would be very excited.

I'm hearing rumors we are looking at MLS based strikers. Herculez Gomez is one rumor and I actually think if he would fit well with us. Franco Caraccio just got released from Houston and he's only 21 so I wouldn't mind him.
Carlos Ruiz is another one and I'm against him, I would not like Ruiz on this team, I don't think he will link up well with Angel and plus he dives way too much and I hate that.

Loyal Readers,

For some unexplained reason, blogger has locked RBR out from creating new posts. It has been a frustrating process trying to get reinstated (apparently RBR has been flagged as a spam blog), but we are working to remedy the situation, one way or another. Please be patient (even though RBR lost its patience with blogger a week ago).

We use wordpress over at redbulls.theoffside.com. It is far and away a better product. Unless MLS has a special deal with blogger, I would strongly suggest a jumping of ship.

RBR can't wait any longer for blogger to unlock us. You can't cage this beast!! So we have moved to a different platform. redbullsreader.wordpress.com is our new address. We were even able to import all our old posts!! Point your browsers there. We will post something here when they let us back in to announce this to the world.
